SUMMARY:Annual Meeting 2018
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, June 14\, 2018 the Westchester County Medical Society and the Westchester Academy of Medicine held their Annual Meeting at the Westchester Country Club in Rye New York.  About 140 members and guests enjoyed an evening of fellowship with colleagues and family\, great food\, networking\, and the opportunity to interact with some of the WCMS Preferred Partners and sponsors.  Outgoing WCMS President Marshal Peris\, MD was thanked for a wonderful year of excellent leadership. Dr. Peris thanked his colleagues and the administrative staff of the Society and Academy for a great year.  Newly installed President Omar Syed\, MD a neurosurgeon  practicing with Caremount Medical gave his inaugural remarks and spoke about his personal history\, and his plans for the upcoming year\, which include focusing on the the importance of involving our young physician members\, and increasing overall membership by offering services and benefits tailored to employed physicians as well as solo and small practice physicians.  The evening was a great success! \nThe First Annual “Friend of the Society” Award was presented to Edward C. Halperin\, MD\, MA\, Chancellor & CEO NYMC for his oingoing efforts to engage the medical student community with the physician community in Westchester County.  He is also a strong supporter of the Society and a member himself.  Dr. Halperin was on-hand to accept his award and spoke about the history of New York Medical College and the evolution of the relationship between NYMC and the Westchester Coutny Medical Society. \n2018 Souvenir Journal\n \nPhoto of the Event

SUMMARY:Networking Event 2017
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, May 4\, 2017 the Westchester County Medical Society hosted our first annual “Referral Rounds” physician networking event.  About 70 physicians from all around Westchester joined us at the Captain Lawrence Brewery in Elmsford\, New York for a fun night of getting to know their colleagues\, not to mention great food and beer!  This event was open to all physicians in Westchester\, not just members of WCMS.  We were able to open this event to non-members through event sponsorships provided by UBS—The Mitchell Wealthcare Group; Park Avenue Benefit Planning; Citizens Bank; DataMatrix Technologies; AgeWell New York; Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company\, and Kern Augustine\, P.C. \nThank you to all of our sponsors for being part of such a great event!  Keep your eyes open for another networking event in the fall. \nPhoto of the Event:

SUMMARY:New York Medical College Wine Tasting 2016
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, November 17\, 2016 the Westchester Academy of Medicine sponsored a member wine tasting with the Medical Students of New York Medical College.  The event\, held in the Alumni House on the New York Medical College Campus\, was attended by over 50 students\, WCMS/WAM Members and guests. \nOur own WCMS vintners\, Dr. Joseph Tartaglia\, President WAM; and Dr. Paul Gerardi along with Alfredo Veronese of Prospero Winery in Pleasantville\, brought their own wines for the guests to sample and explained the wine making process. \nThe students enjoyed meeting the physicians and talking to them about their specialties.  The Westchester Academy of Medicine would like to thank the student organizers for all their help with planning and executing such a successful evening\, and NYMC for hosting the event. \nPhoto of the event:
