How Does WCMS Membership Benefit Physicians?

-     Legislative Advocacy - Whether it's a federal, state or local issue, your county medical society and the Medical Society of the State of New York are working hard to protect your interests as a physician and preserve the practice of medicine. Through its Committee on Legislation, the Medical Society regularly meets with its state and federal legislators to discuss issues that impact your ability to practice medicine here in Westchester. You can make your voice heard. There is significant power in numbers.

 -      Physician Referrals - The Medical Society provides our members with thousands of referrals each year. We provide each caller a choice of three names from a rotating database of physicians in the specified location and medical specialty. This service is purely voluntary and free of charge to members.

 -      Pictorial Directory - The Medical Society publishes a bi-annual pictorial directory of Westchester physicians.  Your colleagues and the public utilize this directory when selecting physicians.

-       Westchester Physician  - The monthly newsletter keeps members informed of Medical Society and Academy programs, events, and services, and abreast of issues that are pertinent to their practice and profession. These issues include socioeconomic, political, legal and clinical observations.

-      Continuing Medical Education - As a member of the Medical Society and Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, members have unlimited access to regular CME programs presented by specialty sections, as well as other scientific and educational programs sponsored by the Medical Society/Academy. Most programs are free to members and are certified for Category I credit by the Academy.

-      Committees - Through participation in our committees, members can directly impact policy affecting their practices and the healthcare environment. Such committees include: legislation; public health; medical and professional review (peer review); young physicians; CME; and worker's compensation.

-      Member Benefits - Through its partnerships with local businesses, members have access to: affordable health insurance; informative seminars on asset management, Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, practice valuation, and other legal issues. Your medical society is ready to assist you to navigate the maze of rules and regulations associated with anti-trust, HIV and AIDS, capitation, procedural coding, the ADA, Medicaid managed care, etc...
